Wessel Valkenburg, Ph.D., is an expert in statistics, analytical modeling and distributed computing at the Terre des hommes in Lausanne, Switzerland. He takes the technical lead in developing predictive models for epidemiology and health-care scoring. Prior to Terre des hommes, Wessel worked as a theoretical physicist at top institutes in Europe, such as CERN, where he published numerous cosmological studies in high-ranking journals. The studies ranged from statistical analyses of satellite-collected data, to large computer simulations of the Universe, and many more topics. Now, he is excited to apply his skills to digital healthcare in developing countries, contributing to the global collective effort of improving the lives of those in need.
